Hazylujah

( ;D --> Hazylujah. It’s immediately clear why Delsin sought him out. His tracks play with filtered, sci-fi synth motifs in a way that resembles more the general aesthetic of the label than any particular artist, combining an emphasis on ambience with loose, deeper techno structures.)
Too Many Ghosts
H_amazon
( ;D --> Delsin come correct with Hazylujah's strangely infectious 'Too Many Ghosts' debut. Much like the recent Xosar sessions, there's a genuinely unnerving and ethereal quality to Hazylujah's music; something abstract and unquantified which is really endearing to these ears at least. Leading out 'Hazylutrax' fixes a dark, stalking bassline to gremlin-like synth quirks, while 'Too Many Ghosts' is prone to dissolving the rhythm and reappearing at will amidst eerie acid tweaks and slanted synth dissonance. 'Dreams Logic' is markedly more sensual, in that drifty, track NWAQ style, a sound shared by the shimmering, dubbed surfaces of 'Minds Wired'.)

( ;D --> Exclusive* Sterling debut release from the enigmatic Akkord collective based in the peripheries of Manchester. For now, the provenance of their identity will be on a need-to-know basis: their music will yield more than names could inform. These three tracks are a distillation of their passions for "minimalism, art, design, mathematics and sacred geometry", and aesthetically occupy darker ground in the shade of the Autonomic sound. Checking in with the spectral robo-ragga of 'The Drums' - sounding something like Burial meets dBridge - they shapeshift into rolling Electro-Ruffige a la Boddika on 'Renewal' catalysed by muscular, rippling arpeggios and pointillist percussions, while 'Back & Forth' engages with tensely constructed Electro-step hyperspace. Grimes

( ;D --> There is a powerful harmony in Grimes. It is a project which is both musical and visual, embodying the arts of 2D, performance, dance, video and sound. Claire Boucher weaves these together to a strong rhythmic effect, “the marriage between the voice of a human and the heartbeat of a machine. Each album tackles a different set of influences and styles. Her newest album, Visions, incorporates influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, IDM, New Age, K-pop, Industrial and glitch. This approach has marked Grimes as a curator of culture, and allowed the project to remain flexible and evolving. A phantasmic state for the deep listener, sourcing the long forgotten spells running alongside humans for centuries and forcing them through a hyper-futuristic filter. Compositional and vocal delivery are coloured with an emotional trauma. Despite a generally upbeat demeanour, an urgency permeates the music. Calling us between our history and the future it uses the pleasure of minimal rhythms and dance to entice, but beyond its rich, software-sculpted cohesiveness, and vocal energy, runs a very real and odd world.)

Transverse is a unique collaboration, created especially for the legendary Short Circuit presents Mute festival at the Roundhouse, London in 2011. The tracks were prepared in the studio and then performed and recorded live in front of an audience. Outside of the trio, these recordings were unheard prior to the festival and the popularity of the performance left many being turned away at the door. Mute is proud to make this ground breaking recording available and to be working again with two of electronic music's true pioneers and one of its new trail blazers. Said The Quietus of the performance: "…a warm embrace, creating a deep connection… Carter at the back manipulates the electronics while on either flank, Void scratches noise with bowed guitar and Tutti plays while singing vocals that she mangles and distorts… there is no nihilism in this noise, nothing but a deep and wonderful sense of love.")

( ;D --> 'Giza' is the brilliant new EP from Chicago/NY electronic duo Gatekeeper, following their debut on Kompakt's Fright imprint last year. Inspired by the sounds and visions of forgotten sci-fi film scores, fantasy games and arcade imagery, Gatekeeper has created its own morbidly deranged discotheque, a vivid flight of fancy in which the conventions of techno, Chicago house, italo-disco and industrial are transfigured into one phantasmagorical adventure, populated by hushed screams, Gregorian dungeon chants and cinematic washes of mammoth sound.)

Carter Tutti / Chris and Cosey
www.chrisandcosey.com
( ;D --> Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti formed CHRIS & COSEY out of the ashes of their seminal 70s' Industrial band Throbbing Gristle. Throbbing Gristle (and Carter/Tutti) founded the Industrial music genre and were one of the first bands to successfully fuse electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Their musical legacy is still very much in evidence today. When Throbbing Gristle was terminated in 1981 Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti signed to Rough Trade Records and began recording and performing as CHRIS & COSEY. From the very start they indulgently utilised electronics, sampling, rhythms and Cosey's distinctive vocals, cornet and guitar style. In 1982 (and in collaboration with Rough Trade) they formed their own offshoot record label Conspiracy International (aka: CTI) for their more experimental recordings and collaborative projects. CTI continues to run alongside CARTER and TUTTI's more accessible work.)

( ;D --> Mute are pleased to announce the release of CARTER TUTTI VOID's Transverse, a unique collaboration from Chris Carter & Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle) and Nik Void (Factory Floor), out on vinyl, CD and download on 26 March 2012.
