That song and previous singles ‘Need you’ and ‘Squeeze my lime’ hinted at a nascent song writing talent and a mastery of oozing synth drones. The synths remain, but since then, the band have adjusted their focus, and added a lead singer James Buttery to the production and writing team of James Young and Aiden Whalley. The result is a brave, low-key pop masterpiece, which discards with the cheap thrills and treadmill ideas that many deploy to access success. Instead, 'North' will creep up on you with each listen, seducing you with achingly gorgeous, synthesized song writing.)

( ;D --> Raised on a diet of pure filth; Broken Note have dragged their own unique sound kicking and screaming to the electronic music scene. Combining lean, considered production skills with an appreciation of diverse rough beats; they have quickly established themselves as a sonic force to be reckoned with. Their slower-tempo sound can only very loosely be described as Dubstep, with little in common with much of the scene's output. ( ;D --> Influenced by bands from the German and UK electronic scene, Dirk Ivens (synths & voice) formed Absolute Body Control early 1980, and was joined by Mark de Jonghe (synths) and Veerle de Schepper (backing vocals. became one of the first Belgian electronic acts who proved to be succesfull also on stage. In 1984 Dirk became a member of "The Klinik", followed by Eric who left after the 2nd album to form Insekt. In 1989 they released their last tape "Tracks" wich contained all ABC compilation contributions so far, but the band was put on non active well before. However, the public intrest was std so far,"Eat this" (1993) on the German VUZ records. Many people re-discovered the band and ABC releases became much sought after collector items. Still, it took them over 22 years to reform and play at festivals like the Tinitus (Sweden). With the release of the "Shattered Illusion" album, wich contains 10 brandnew tracks and the EP "Sorrow" on the Sonic Seducer Magazine, the band is completely back again and on tour all over Europe.)

( ;D --> This is by far the most accessible record Squarepusher (aka Tom Jenkinson) has ever made. This was not the original intent, but the result is clear. This record will change the way people view Squarepusher. Having been known as a leader and innovator in Drum 'n Bass and various forms of up tempo electronic music for 15 years, Jenkinson was always able to push the boundaries of the genre, but on ''Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator'', he is pushing so far beyond his previous releases it is easy to hear why it might take a few listens to register that this is indeed a Squarepusher record. Vocals? R&B rhythms? Heavy synths? These and other un-Squarepusher like elements form what could even be described as 'baby makin' music'. Jenkinson's vast knowledge of rhythm and harmony help to make these songs much more than nu-soul R&B, they are truly an entity unto themselves.)

( ;D --> Chris Carter sure has turned his childhood hobby into a career. Born in Islington, London, England on January 28, 1953, Carter became enchanted with high-tech equipment early in his youth. When he was only a boy, Carter spent hours playing with a tape deck; his father would record family conversations and add sound effects to them, even changing speeds. At the age of 13, Carter fell in love with mixing electronic sounds. Carter joined a garage band called the Dragsters in 1967. A year later, Carter took drugs and saw Pink Floyd perform at a dive in North London. The group's visual presentation and acid-damaged pop left Carter spellbound. Inspired, Carter formed Orpheus Lites with his friend Chris Panayiotou, providing local acts with Pink Floyd-ish psychedelic light shows. Orpheus Lites eventually turned into an integral part of their biggest client, the outfit Willa. Carter joined Willa as a keyboardist, but he left in 1974. In 1975, Carter made his solo debut, performing at Thurrock Technical College in England as Waveforms, utilizing synthesizers and keyboards. He then met future bandmates Genesis P-Orridge (vocals) and Cosey Fanni Tutti (guitar), both of whom were in COUM Transmissions, a performance art ensemble that disgusted and disturbed English audiences by torturing their g*****ls and licking their vomit on-stage. With the addition of Carter, COUM Transmissions evolved into industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle. In 1980, Carter released his first album, The Space Between. Throbbing Gristle broke up a year later, and Carter started collaborating with Fanni Tutti as Chris & Cosey and Creative Technology Insitute, otherwise known as CTI. They also created their own record label, Conspiracy International. Carter entered the journalism field in the '90s, writing music reviews; he also designed album covers with Fanni Tutti and remixed two songs from Erasure.)

( ;D --> Switchblade Symphony was a San Francisco, United States–based band which was formed in 1989 by composer Susan Wallace and vocalist Tina Root. They released their first album in 1995 on the Cleopatra Records label. They also had two live guitarists, first Robin Jacobs (who later joined Razor Skyline) and then George Earth, and two live drummers, first Eric Gebow (now with Blue Man Group) and then Scott van Shoick.
Switchblade Symphony's music combined orchestral sounds with heavy synth sequences and ethereal vocals to create a highly original sound resembling The Flower Duet sung over a twisted union of classical music and gothic rock. The band's name refers to this union, the result of cutting up elements of classical music to mix them with harder sounds. Though this sound is uncommon, it might be compared with Rhea's Obsession, Siouxsie Cindergarden, The Machine in the Garden and Dead Can Dance.
Switchblade Symphony disbanded in November 1999. Subsequently, Tina Root started Tre Lux. In 2008 Tina Root and George Earth formed SmallHalo. Small Halo is based out of L.A. and are working on an upcoming EP.)

( ;D --> Named after a kind of fungi, Röyksopp was formed in 1998 by Norwegians Torbjörn Brundtland and Svein Berge who delivered a new kind of electronica with their debut album Melody A.M. in 2001.
The sound was a big hit with the advertising world and tracks were co-opted for a variety of products including a Apple, an insurance group and broadcasters in the US and the UK.
With their taste for experimentation extending to their videos, they won an MTV Europe award for "Remind Me" from their second album The Understanding.
The band's skills as producers have been utilized with remixes for Beck, Coldplay and Peter Gabriel and they were invited to do a compilation album for the Back To Mine series in 2006.)

( ;D --> An introduction to Senior by the band: Junior and Senior have a kinship, in that they represent Röyksopp’s two very different artistic expressions. Junior – with emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies, has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident “hey-ho, let’s go!”-attitude of youth, whereas Senior is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart – brimfull with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting “I’m old, I’ve got experince…”. Senior is furthermore an album about age, horses and being subdued – with devils breathing down your neck. Senior was written as a complete set of tracks, each designated to take a specific part in the bigger piece. All individual tracks have been made with the intent of coexisting with the other tracks on the album. Each track is equally as important as its predecessor and successor. We feel that none of the tracks should be regarded outside of this context, ie. separated from the rest of the album. Quite a brave/stupid thing to do in this day & age of iPods and cherrypicking, one might suggest. We couldn’t agree more – hell that’s even probably why we did it.)

( ;D --> The Residents have been on quite a creative streak in the first decade of the new millennium, with a bunch of new albums, a pretty extensive reissue campaign, and retrospectives like the Kettles of Fish compilation. And judging from the "futurist compilation" Ten Little Piggies, they aren't slowing down at all. The "Ten Little Piggies" referred to are actually ten different projects that may or may not be completed and/or released (actually, as of the release date in late 2009, a couple of the projects have been released as downloads only and The Ughs! received a physical release as well). It's quite a mix. Several of these projects revisit earlier ones, like the Tweedles and Voice of Midnight instrumentals, which are interesting because those albums were originally so driven by narrative that the music was almost secondary. Apparently, they're also working on a Duck Stab Re-Imagined album, represented here by an almost drum'n'bass-style &"Semolina" and a surprisingly dark take on &"Laughing Song," reduced almost entirely to percussion. There are a couple of soundtrack projects (Strange Culture and Haeckel's Tale) and a couple extensions of the Bunny Boy saga: &"Arkansas" and a live album from the Bunny Boy tour. Perhaps the two best tracks come from the Talking Light project, described as "interpretive storytelling with an interactive electronic score"..."based on a mix of improvisation and scoring." They're both creepy and hilarious in that special Residents way. Will all these projects see the full light of day? Who knows. But Ten Little Piggies is further proof (if you needed any) that the Residents are certainly among the most restlessly creative and productive groups in the history of mankind.)
