Flavor of the Week #33

.
Beborn Beton
www.facebook.com/bebornbeton
( ;D --> Beborn Beton was originally conceived in 1989 by long time friends and music enthusiasts Stefan Tillmann and Michael B Wagner. With heavy influences from the bands of the eighties, Beborn Beton set out to expand and modernize the sounds of their once heroes. Shortly after Till and Michael joined forces, the then duo, set out to further develop their new endeavor. The result, brought the addition of the final member, former schoolmate Stefan Netschio to assume the role of lead vocals. With all the pieces now in place, the group was finally ready to embark on their own musical journey.
Since the formation, the trio has remained intact and to date have released 5 albums, a remix album and several singles including the megahit Another World which spent several weeks on top of European and American club and radio charts. Now as the band approaches their 13th year they have yet again broadened their scope and we are proud to announce the first domestic release from this legendary group. The US debut album is a Greatest Hits collection of their extensive history soon to be followed by the first new album in nearly 7 years. The masses will soon be aware of why Beborn Beton is considered one of the true pioneers and one of the best bands to ever surface from the German music scene.)

Cold Showers

( ;D --> Cold Showers, a band formed in Highland Park, California in 2010, fuses the brash power of their shoegaze pedigree with the smokey compulsions of post-punk / no-wave ancestors. Cold Showers would fit in well amongst their idols on the Factory or early Rough Trade back catalog, but blend in perfectly amongst the unique foliage of the Dais Records roster. Cold Showers sophomore album out sees the band step up to the plate with more pop sensibility under their belt with the tracks of their new album “Matter of Choice”. This is the pervasive pop mode against which Cold Showers cast themselves, but haven’t fully relinquished themselves from their signature piston-precision rhythms and anthem laden synthesizer illuminations that came about within the band’s formation. After the band released singles on Mexican Summer and Art Fag, Cold Showers signed with Dais Records. In the late summer of 2012, Dais had released the band band’s debut album, Love and Regret, to a storm of industry praise and critical acclaim. After a few successful tours with bands such as The Soft Moon & Veronica Falls, Cold Showers members decided to take some time off to start crafting new songs in a more pop-oriented direction. These songs started to take demonstrational form in a handful of singles and live cassette releases on Dais until the band decided to hunker down in the studio to formalize the songs found on their new album, Matter of Choice, available August 28th, 2015.)

( ;D --> When kindred souls meet across generations, the result of such cultural crossbreeding is often interesting, sometimes good and, if they really connect on different levels, mesmerizing. As is the case for NE, the collaboration between Dirk Da Davo - he of THE NEON JUDGEMENT fame - and RADICAL G - relentless dark techno producer with two albums and a string of EP's under his belt. There is common ground, of course: both already co-produced tracks with the likes of The Hacker, David Carretta and Millimetric, and made applauded appearances on Dave Clarke's 'White Noise Radio' playlists. But perhaps even more significant: both share a dystopian view on present and future, where it's open season for governments and multinational corporations that seem to have received a license to kill the privacy and freedom of the individual, and a mutual sonic understanding that includes pounding beat bonanzas next to brooding krautrock, marshy soundscapes and twisted dub. So yes, it's dark. And loud. But it's a darkness with a loudly beating heart. Pretty? No. Hauntingly beautiful? Absolutely.)
