Monolake/Robert Henke
www.monolake.de
( ;D --> Monolake is an electronic music act based in Berlin. Originally consisting of members Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, Monolake is now perpetuated by Henke while Behles focuses on running music software company Ableton. In fall 2004, Torsten Pröfrock became a member of Monolake. Monolake's minimal, dub-influenced techno music helped establish the sound of the Chain Reaction label, also located in Berlin, subsequently using their own [ml/i] (Monolake / Imbalance Computer Music) label for the group's output. Both current members have solo projects, with Henke releasing under his own name and Pröfrock as T++ and Various Artists. In 2008 T++ followed Ricardo Villalobos in bridging the gap between minimal techno and dubstep, by remixing Shackleton's Death Is Not Final for the Skull Disco label. In 2009, Robert Henke appeared in the electronic music documentary Speaking In Code which presented the completion of the Monodeck. Monolake is named after Mono Lake, which is east of the Sierra Nevada in California.)

( ;D --> Drexciya was an electronic music duo from Detroit, Michigan. The late James Stinson was the only officially identified member of Drexciya, but it was considered an open secret that he had a partner, Gerald Donald. The majority of Drexciya's releases were in the style of dance-floor-oriented Electro, punctuated with elements of retro, 1980s Detroit Techno, with occasional excursions into the Ambient and Industrial genres. Tracks are mostly centered around the TR-808 drum machine, with bass, melodies, and synth textures ebbing and flowing in time. Anecdotes suggest that Stinson and Donald recorded tracks while playing the instruments live, making use of analog equipment and sequencing methods. Drexciya combined a faceless, underground, anti-mainstream media stance with mythological, sci-fi narratives, to help heighten the dramatic effect of their music. In this aspect they were similar to artists within and close to the Detroit collective Underground Resistance.)

As a musician Eigner has contributed to hundreds of albums for various artists. Bamonte began working for Depeche Mode from the start of their career in 1980, taking on a varierty of roles before moving on in 1995 to work for The Cure for several years. To date, he has worked mainly as a TV composer and has preserved his passion for classical music. The trio shares creative equality when they work on their songs. Daryl writes the lyrics, Florian develops the melodies and Christian puts together the powerful music that marks Compact Space with their own unmistakable style as soon as you listen to them. Compact Space has recently signed a worldwide licensing deal with Ferryhouse Productions in Hamburg. The first album "Nameless" and "Push Push" EP will be released simultaneously on 24th June 2011. ( ;D --> Every artist claims to defy categorization. Yet for Jokers Of The Scene, it's not a boast - it's a lifestyle. For the past few years, Jokers Of The Scene have ranked amongst the brightest, weirdest lights of Canada's dance music renaissance. Between their Fool's Gold originals and their enviably deep remixography, the duo have passed on a "signature sound" to craft an unpredictable approach that's as cerebral as it is speaker-decimating.
Whether crafting epic, nine minute Salem remixes or raving out with their own anthemic tracks like “Revolting Joks” and “Baggy Bottom Boys,” Toronto duo Jokers Of The Scene have proven themselves masters of electronic music in all its forms. Their latest project, the J0T5 EP, may prove their most expansive yet, as Linus Booth and Chris Macintyre have created music perfect for home listening and strobe-lit warehouses alike. The five tracks on J0T5 pulsate through ambient synth excursions, vintage sci-fi soundtracks, and experimental techno, somehow managing to connect the dots along the way. Equally diverse is the accompanying J0T5 RMXD EP. Here, the duo’s peers and contemporaries like Daniel Avery (aka Stopmakingme), Shadow Dancer (BNR), Hrdvsion (Wagon Repair), Savile & Olin, Cosmic Kids (Throne Of Blood), Gingy & Bordello (Turbo) and Babe Rainbow (Warp) each take turns driving the Jokers’ new material into new and unexpected directions.)

( ;D --> Új Látásmód Fúzió - established in 1992 - is a cult-band in the obscure Hungarian Synth-Wave scene. In the early 90's they released a lot of raw trashy dadaistic cassette tapes. Their sound stretches from minimal synth-pop to a kind of absurd kitschy cabaret. The songs are with minimalistic soundscapes, gloomy melodies, special poetic lyrics and an ominous baritone voice - represented with charmed rigid expressions.)

Grimes
www.myspace.com/boucherville
www.grimesmusic.com
( ;D --> There is a powerful harmony in Grimes. It is a project which is both musical and visual, embodying the arts of 2D, performance, dance, video and sound. Claire Boucher weaves these together to a strong rhythmic effect, “the marriage between the voice of a human and the heartbeat of a machine. Each album tackles a different set of influences and styles. Her newest album, Visions, incorporates influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, IDM, New Age, K-pop, Industrial and glitch. This approach has marked Grimes as a curator of culture, and allowed the project to remain flexible and evolving. A phantasmic state for the deep listener, sourcing the long forgotten spells running alongside humans for centuries and forcing them through a hyper-futuristic filter. Compositional and vocal delivery are coloured with an emotional trauma. Despite a generally upbeat demeanour, an urgency permeates the music. Calling us between our history and the future it uses the pleasure of minimal rhythms and dance to entice, but beyond its rich, software-sculpted cohesiveness, and vocal energy, runs a very real and odd world.)

Mondkopf

( ;D --> Mondkopf is a French artist with a German name, which is fitting, given how often his productions play in a middle ground between those two countries' archetypal modes of electronic music. Looked at a certain way, Rising Doom, the 24-year old's latest full-length and first for Fool House, the label imprint of French fashion/mp3 blog Fluokids, borrows the machine muscle of harsh Teutonic techno and leavens it with just a bit of the joviality and melody of French touch.)

( ;D --> Momentform is a Paris-based project, active since 2010. Mostly influenced by late 70s / early 80s minimal synth and new generation innovators like Martial Canterel, the band’s sounds and ethics also reveal strong post-punk influences. A disenchanted, singular vision of modernism stretches across its work, ultimately justifying the musical language at use - a combination of layered synthesizers, detuned leads and bass guitar.)

Louderbach
www.myspace.com/louderbach
( ;D -->In a landscape of abundance we’ve walled our senses behind sugary convenience. With luxury a click away the growing emphasis on the sugar fix has slowly rotted our teeth. The rot has left us doing more with less, just a few incisors to do the job of a full mouth. With the bells and whistles stripped away we can appreciate the simplicity of motion and space working together. The simplicity of Louderbach embodies this relationship. The focus on the single line or simple structure is retraining the eye to see, teaching the ear to hear again. The bells and whistles of our saturated world have taken the focus off the direct, we’ve lost the beauty of simplicity; the depth of repetition.)

Throughout the duration of every track, the listener finds him/herself being bombarded by unusual and unique percussion's that differ through their aggressiveness and military cadence. On Wikipedia we find the explanation of the term: Triarii were spear-men in the armies of the early Roman Republic. They were oldest and among the wealthiest men in the army. The music expressed by this German project (based in Berlin) matches the description; it is anthem like, warrior like through concept and through message.)

( ;D --> Gonjasufi (born Sumach Ecks, aka Sumach Valentine, c.1978) is a rapper, singer, disc jockey and yoga teacher from San Diego, California and currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ecks was born to a Mexican mother and an American-Ethiopian father. He has been releasing music since the early 1990s among the San Diego Hip Hop scene, notably with the Masters of the Universe crew. Ecks gained notice from Warp Records in 2008 after an appearance on Californian musician Flying Lotus' album Los Angeles, where he sings on the track "Testament". His Warp debut album, A Sufi and a Killer was released on March 8, 2010. Ecks' voice was described by Pitchfork Media as "a scraggly, scary, smoked-out croak that creeps like the spiritual offspring of George Clinton and Leadbelly". He attributes his singing voice to his day job teaching yoga when he had to "to project from my stomach more".)

Carter Tutti / Chris and Cosey
www.chrisandcosey.com
( ;D --> Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti formed CHRIS & COSEY out of the ashes of their seminal 70s' Industrial band Throbbing Gristle. Throbbing Gristle (and Carter/Tutti) founded the Industrial music genre and were one of the first bands to successfully fuse electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Their musical legacy is still very much in evidence today. When Throbbing Gristle was terminated in 1981 Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti signed to Rough Trade Records and began recording and performing as CHRIS & COSEY. From the very start they indulgently utilised electronics, sampling, rhythms and Cosey's distinctive vocals, cornet and guitar style. In 1982 (and in collaboration with Rough Trade) they formed their own offshoot record label Conspiracy International (aka: CTI) for their more experimental recordings and collaborative projects. CTI continues to run alongside CARTER and TUTTI's more accessible work.)

( ;D --> Mute are pleased to announce the release of CARTER TUTTI VOID's Transverse, a unique collaboration from Chris Carter & Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle) and Nik Void (Factory Floor), out on vinyl, CD and download on 26 March 2012. Transverse is a unique collaboration, created especially for the legendary Short Circuit presents Mute festival at the Roundhouse, London in 2011. The tracks were prepared in the studio and then performed and recorded live in front of an audience. Outside of the trio, these recordings were unheard prior to the festival and the popularity of the performance left many being turned away at the door. Mute is proud to make this ground breaking recording available and to be working again with two of electronic music's true pioneers and one of its new trail blazers. Said The Quietus of the performance: "…a warm embrace, creating a deep connection… Carter at the back manipulates the electronics while on either flank, Void scratches noise with bowed guitar and Tutti plays while singing vocals that she mangles and distorts… there is no nihilism in this noise, nothing but a deep and wonderful sense of love.")
