Flavor of the Week #21

( ;D --> Cyclobe (1999-) are a music duo formed by Stephen Thrower and Ossian Brown. They make hallucinatory electronic soundscapes by mixing sampled and heavily synthesized sounds with acoustic arrangements for a variety of instruments including hurdy gurdy, border pipes, duduk and clarinet. Their approach draws upon diverse forms, including acousmatic, drone music, sound collage, folk and progressive rock.)

Ben Frost
( ;D --> Born in 1980 in Melbourne, Australia, Ben Frost relocated to Reykjavík Iceland in 2005 and working together with close friends Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly, formed the Bedroom Community record label/collective. The music of Ben Frost is about contrast; influenced as much by Classical Minimalism as by Punk Rock and Metal, Frost's throbbing guitar-based textures emerge from nothing and slowly coalesce into huge, forbidding forms that often eschew conventional structures in favor of the inevitable unfoldings of vast mechanical systems. His albums, including Steel Wound (2003), Theory of Machines (2007), BY THE THROAT (2009) and A U R O R A (2014) fuse intensely structured sound art with militant post-classical electronic music, shape-shifting physical power with immersive melody, concentrated minimalism with fierce, rupturing metal.)
( ;D --> A U R O R A is Ben Frost’s highly anticipated fifth solo release, his first since the widely acclaimed 2009 album BY THE THROAT. A U R O R A aims directly, through its monolithic construction, at blinding luminescent alchemy; not with benign heavenly beauty but through decimating magnetic force. This is no pristine vision of digital music, it is a filthy, uncivilized offering of interrupted future time where emergency flares illuminate ruined nightclubs and the faith of the dancefloor rests in a diesel-powered generator spewing forth its own extinction, eating rancid fuel so loudly it threatens to overrun the very music it is powering.)

( ;D --> BL/\CK CEILING is the alias of recording artist Dan Ocean, sometime hip-hop, electro and dubstep producer, and collaborator with rapper Quiz. A well-known figure in the local music scene of his native Spokane, Washington, Ocean's latest project BL/\CK CEILING explores the sounds and textures of the emergent Witch House genre.)

He also writes under guises as Dr. Futurist (electro), Tactical Systems (techno-bass), Tau Sagittarii (experimental) and under his own name (minimal/synth/italo).)
Complex order

Quixotic and The Human Experience
The Human Experience
( ;D --> “The Human Experience” is David Block’s principal project as a live electronic composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer. Listeners experience a delicious symphonic blend of prismatic soundscapes and sultry beats.)
( ;D --> Quixotic has a core team of contributors whose members work together to maintain and provide support from creation to execution of Quixotic’s performances. Individuals are invited to join the core team based on their time and efforts contributed to Quixotic as a whole, as well as their sustained efforts in improving the overall quality of Quixotic. The core team is essential to the day-to-day vision and creation led by Founder / Artistic Director Anthony Magliano and Associate Artistic Director Mica Thomas.  Quixotic's core musical composition team is led by Anthony Magliano and Shane Borth.)
From the Outside Looking in
( ;D --> The collaboration between Quixotic and The Human Experience expands beyond the sonic experience and into the mixed media world. Quixotic blends world class music with performance art, using cutting edge visual projections with aerial, dance, and fire ballet to convey mysterious and beautiful worlds. On this release, Quixotic's own live band collaborated with David Block's cinematic compositions to create a synesthetic explosion on the senses.)
