His affection for sophisticated bass lines, deep beats and challenging arrangements breathes new life into Techno. Conforce
www.myspace.com/conforce
( ;D --> Conforce is the moniker of Boris Bunnik from The Island of Terschelling. Nowadays he lives in the city of Leeuwarden. He developed his passion for electronic music around the age of 10. His father owned a large collection of usual and unusual instruments like the bagpipe, accordion, guitar, piano and harmonica's. Somehow this must have contained him with some musical interest. Michael Jackson also got airplay in his living room. But it was in a summer that his father who is also working as a forester was on a patrol in the eastern part of the island. He found a black colored tape who someone must have lost during a walk. When he took it home, he gave it to his son with the words “perhaps you could do something with it”. Not much later he bought his first taperecorder. The next thing he did was to put the tape in and take a listen. Soon there were all kinds of weird and freaky noises coming out. It attacked him. “What was this kind of sh*t?” he wondered. After that listen he did put it away in the closet - only for a very short while. He realised that this must have been the first serious house music he had been listening to. On the tape was Detroit orientated techno from producers like Orlando Voorn, Speedy J, Joey Beltram and Carl Craig who worked with the characteristic hardware equipment.)

Portico Quartet

http://porticoquartet.com
( ;D --> The Portico Quartet are a bunch of guys in their early twenties who play instrumental music. Formed four years ago from two sets of schoolfriends, they share a house in East London, make recordings, and play festivals and clubs. Yet what distinguishes them from dozens of other Hackney hopefuls is the way they sound - a fresh, unclichéd resynthesis and reinvention of music that's both pleasingly familiar and thrillingly new, like World Music from the future. With largely acoustic resources - percussion, bass and wind instruments - they have conjured and refined a group signature that's immediately recognisable. Thanks to the use of the hang, a tuned percussion instrument bought on impulse at a music festival, they have a sound that is instantly attractive, yet uncompromisingly individual, and it's this, combined with the cheerful eloquence of their performances, that has brought Portico Quartet a long way in a short time.)

( ;D --> In 1985, Phillip Boa (born Ernst Ulrich Figgen) founded the Independent band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub. With their album Hair and the single Container Love, they experienced a commercial breakthrough and international recognition in 1989. Boa's music is influenced by British punk rock and New Wave, its style swings between pop and avantgarde. A continuous charasteric are the catchy and melodic choruses, interrupted or alienated by atmospheric shifts. Thereby the voice of band member Pia Lund and Boa's own throaty singing contrast diametrically.

Kant Kino
www.myspace.com/kantkino08
( ;D --> Kant Kino was started late 2008 for playing at a free slot at Elektrostat 2008 (major underground festival in Norway celebrating 10 years - this year with Apoptygma Berzerk and Front for 242 and many others). Kant Kino consist of band members active in Industrial Heads, Skin Disease and The Film Inside. KANT KINO inject the distorted force of the 90's dark elektro genre into their strong 80's EBM roots to render dark body music with distorted vocals and a strong sense for melody. Have you ever dared to have the forbidden thought of hearing a fresh combination of HOCICO or WUMPSCUT’s distorted darkness with the melodic EBM side of classic acts like NITZER EBB or LEAETHER STRIP? Expect EBM with the Norwegian seal of quality!)

( ;D --> After one and a half years of continuous touring activities (also supporting German legends Rammstein along the way), one of the most influential Electro-Industrial-acts of our time returns with a bang: Combichrist! The red hot new single “Never Surrender” is a raw and dry beat-attack that discharges into an infernal mayhem of a chorus. With this aggressive groove-monster, Andy LaPlegua and band are bound to take the alternative dance floors around the world by storm, making the single a formidable appetizer for the new album “Making Monsters”, scheduled for release on August 27th, 2010. Remixes from IAMX, Terence Fixmer and Melt round off this relentless and excellent club package.)

Mental [per]mutation
K_amazon
( ;D --> Welcome to a new audio therapy in the Electro-madhouse! On “mental [per]mutation”, our favourite patients dive deeper into the everyday life of the institution, unearthing a sonic roller coaster ride of thudding mutated dance-floor-Industrial hybrids (“Käferfrühstück”, “Mister 29” and many more) , acoustic experiments, as well as instrumentals with a soundtrack-like feel (the “Retrograd”-series.) During the course of the album, the listener will gain deep insights into psychoacoustic excerpts from the patients’ files, strange new forms of therapy and numerous soliloquies, often between multiple personalities. “mental [per]mutation“ includes a second disc on which special cases from outside the institution (among them the NYC-Techno-legend Lenny Dee) have gained access to KiEw’s sound files to inject them with their very own madness. Welcome to Disco Dementia! Only one question remains: are the musicians mad or is it the listener?)

Instead, they use live drums and bass, as well as a myriad of other electric devices (toy keyboards, guitar effects pedals, and notably a 35mm film synchronizer).
