( ;D --> This is the second album from the strange and twisted world inhabited by Dasha Rush and a bunch of broken sounding machines. While her first album was cast from a more conventional template, “I Run Iron I Run Ironic” comes from a weirder and more interesting place. Sopor Aeternus (& the Ensemble of Shadows )
www.myspace.com/soporaeternusofficial
www.soporaeternus.de
( ;D --> Sopor Aeternus (Latin: "Eternal Sleep") is a darkwave musical project (probably the deepest of dark bands) based in Frankfurt founded in 1989 by Anna-Varney Cantodea. Since the project's beginnings, Anna-Varney's music has gained notoriety for being extremely personalized, melancholic and pessimistic, drawing on a number of different musical and visual styles to be incorporated into her unique and unusual work. Despite years of media attention in Europe, not much is known about Cantodea and her personal life. All known information has been attained from interviews and publications in print. What is established is that Anna-Varney Cantodea is a pre-operative transwoman, and has decided to remain as such, citing "spiritual conflict" if gender reassignment surgery is performed. Sopor Aeternus also credits the Ensemble of Shadows for her inspirations. These are spirits, beings who she says she receives the musical compositions from. She also works through depression with the aid of her music, as can be heard on the demos, produced at a time when she was gravely ill and at risk of losing her eyesight. She describes her subsequent works as "introverted exhibitionism." They are also expressions of extreme, intense pain.

( ;D --> This is the first new material released since 2006's 'Polygon Cities' album Cities' and quite frankly, it's class. The inclusion of an almost-organic sounding woodwind instrument is a clever ploy, as in all reality it's most likely been programmed from pure data, but lends a human element. 'Titan' should satisfy your unnatural cravings with a purist composition of darkside steppers techno, running at 138bpm and morphed between immense occlusions of darkside atmospherics. It's the sound you all know and love, but updated in the true Monolake sense for 2009. Essential!)

Atlas Titan
M_amazon
( ;D --> This is the first new material released since 2006's 'Polygon Cities' album Cities' and quite frankly, it's class. 'Atlas' is a truly epic opener, setting out on a 138bpm flex with techno-skippin' rhythm fluctuations inheriting a lot of swing from T++'s recent material and mind blowing bass dynamics coaxed into being by Robert Henke's next-level programming skills. Essential!)

Dark Night of the Soul

( ;D --> Musical visionary Danger Mouse, iconoclastic filmmaker David Lynch, and celebrated rock recluse Sparklehorse have converged to create Dark Night of the Soul, a project encompassing a new full-length album and limited edition book. As half of the acclaimed duo Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse is no stranger to high-stakes collaborations. With the help of Sparklehorse, he has recruited a remarkable cast of contemporary artists to lend their vocals, including the Flaming Lips, Black Francis of the Pixies, Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, James Mercer of the Shins, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Nina Persson of the Cardigans, cryptic Southern songwriter Vic Chesnutt, avant-folk icon Suzanne Vega, punk titan Iggy Pop, and even Lynch himself. To create the images that accompany the music, Danger Mouse chose David Lynch. Known for revealing the gripping horror beneath suburban banality, Lynch crafts eerie beauty from the most irregular of elements. For Dark Night of the Soul, the creator of Twin Peaks, Inland Empire, Blue Velvet, and Eraserhead, delivers a gorgeous, hypnotic series of photographs. This captivating project explores and escapes the reality of the world. The book package includes the full sequence of Lynch's images, a foreword by Danger Mouse, selected lyrics, and an art-printed CD-R, in a run of only 5000 copies, each individually numbered.)
