Live, Tones is also accomplished, having made numerous Boiler Room appearances and supported the likes of Bonobo, Atoms For Peace and Jon Hopkins. He is also co-owner of record labels the Left Blank and A Future Without, using his accrued industry knowledge to help launch the careers of now established artists Vessel, Wife, Visionist, Lorca, Memotone and Young Echo, and records as Snow Ghosts with vocalist Augustus Ghost.)

( ;D --> Beginning career in the arts as a painter with an interest in experimental theatre, Adi Newton formed the electronic trio, The Future, who were one of the first bands to arise in the burgeoning Sheffield, UK, electronic music scene of the late 70s. After recording a few demos which failed to lead to an official release, Newton left The Future (with the other two members going on to form The Human League) and began recording avant garde and experimental music under the name Clock DVA along with Steven "Judd" Turner. As Newton's interest in the growing culture of industrial music grew, Clock DVA recorded a series of albums to much critical acclaim and he formed The Anti Group (TAGC), an open ended series of multimedia collaborations which revolved around psychoacoustic experimentation and the notion of occult ritual (which had always been an influence on his work with Clock DVA, as well, but were more directly explored with TAGC) as well as recording with Andrew McKenzie (The Hafler Trio) as the Psychophysicist. Newton continues to remain active with both Clock DVA and TAGC as well as coordinating the multimedia production company ARMComm (Anterior Research Media Communications.)

This might have to do with the fact that this kind of music is not aiming a busy dance floor, rising its hands and shouting out loud during the breaks.  Instead of that, it is made for the individual mind and therefore includes a less functional but pretty intellectual, mature and also very artistic moment. Clearly, the bug that bit the duo circa The Social Network in 2010 hasn’t let go. Based on the quality of their music for Watchmen, that’s great news. Their score for showrunner Damon Lindelof’s sociopolitically fraught story of vigilantism is their strongest and most direct since The Social Network—or even Reznor’s soundtrack for the 1996 video game Quake.)

( ;D --> Carl has been writing and recording music since 1986 but his first real record involvement was co writing and producing Moments of Inertia by Circle City on Warp in 1993. After a year or so working with Leeds indie band The Bridewells and culminating in an album with them recorded in Roxy Music's studio, he settled down into writing and producing dance music. In 1994 he and DJ Ralph Lawson set up 2020 Vision Records, producing deep house flavours of their own as Wolf and Flow and under his own solo guise of Random Factor, remixing artists from around the globe including Blaze, Josh Wink, Superman Lovers and Fatboy Slim. His solo work is heavily electro tinted, reflective of the Kraftwerk era but owing as much to the likes of Drexciya, Prince, Depeche Mode and Yello. During the mid 90s he teamed up with SCSI founder Daz Quayle and wrote under the name Scarletron and also as Black Labs with two releases on Thomas Heckmann's Trope Recordings around 1995. Working under the names of Random Factor (2020 Vision) Voice Stealer (Subvert) and more recently Silicon Scally (SCSI, Satamile) he has released music on labels including Warp, Fuel, Playhouse, Paper, Trope, Sony, Klang, Arista, Soma, Pagan and Minifunk. He is also a keen remixer in his own right, having reworked tracks by 2 Lone Swordsman, Luke Slater, Swayzak, Dave Tipper and Alexi Delano. 2002 saw the release of the critically acclaimed Mr. Machine album on SCSI recordings. In 2003 the combined EP's on Device Entertainment Recordings were released as the album Electrilogy+ under his real name, Carl A Finlow. Shortly after this release, he moved to Paris.)

( ;D --> Bass Agenda ends it's 2019 release run as it started, with a release from Tokyo based French sonic craftsman Fleck ESC. His 'House of the Python' EP, released in January, saw him in his more contemplative mode, working with melody, lower BPMs for the most part, and exploring less visited parts of his sound palette. 11 months later we see Franck Collin bringing four tracks at higher BPM, more dance-floor friendly in flavour, and creating machine grooves with a tone and vibe that only he can. As always this is him - no one else sounds like this. Melody and musicality still have a place here - the title track itself features a brilliant dramatic synth theme, building to a crescendo whilst a trademark Fleck ESC driving groove sits underneath. Each track is a real treat for Fleck fans.)
