( ;D --> Although his music is often consigned to the new age bins of record stores and the bulk of his work has been released on labels more closely associated with that classification, Robert Rich's solo and collaborative recordings have proven extremely influential on a range of new-school ambient and experimental artists. His association with older space music pioneers such as Steve Roach, Kevin Braheny, and Michael Stearns also makes him one of the few of that generation to have interfaced creatively with the new wave of experimental electronic composers. A California native, Rich began experimenting with electronics in the late '70s before attending Stanford University, where he completed a degree in psychology. While at Stanford, Rich's involvement in the university's prestigious Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics expanded his interest in electronic composition, as well as bringing him in contact with a wide range of nontraditional, non-Western musical ideas. Rich's performance of several all-night "sleep concerts" during this period also helped solidify an aesthetic focus on psychoacoustics, perceptible in early recordings such as Geometry and Trances/Drones.)

Originally consisting of members Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, Monolake is now perpetuated by Henke while Behles focuses on running music software company Ableton. In fall 2004, Torsten Pröfrock became a member of Monolake. Monolake's minimal, dub-influenced techno music helped establish the sound of the Chain Reaction label, also located in Berlin, subsequently using their own [ml/i] (Monolake / Imbalance Computer Music) label for the group's output. Both current members have solo projects, with Henke releasing under his own name and Pröfrock as T++ and Various Artists. In 2008 T++ followed Ricardo Villalobos in bridging the gap between minimal techno and dubstep, by remixing Shackleton's Death Is Not Final for the Skull Disco label. In 2009, Robert Henke appeared in the electronic music documentary Speaking In Code which presented the completion of the Monodeck. Monolake is named after Mono Lake, which is east of the Sierra Nevada in California.)

Starting out in the ‘90s, twenty years later it is no exaggeration to say he is as relevant and exciting as ever before. His gig schedule and discography stand as proud testament to that. Meanwhile, the music he releases under a number of respected guises is just as critically acclaimed, mainly releasing his music these days on the Berlin label Ostgut Ton and his own Mote-Evolver. It all started in the nineties with four landmark albums as Planetary Assault Systems. They came on the influential Peacefrog label and announced Slater as a master of dynamic, futurist techno. The likes of Freek Funk and Wireless followed on NovaMute, both of which were albums that continued to tread new techno territory, with stretched ambient textures, hypnotic rhythm frameworks and a real underlying narrative tying them all together.)

Their music can be described as electro-industrial. Erk Aircrag and Racso Agroyam incited to express their feelings through technology. Their lyrics are both in Spanish as well as English. The Spanish word hocico means snout, and is used in Mexico as a disrespectful way to describe someone's comments coming out of their mouth.)

( ;D --> Pouppée Fabrikk is a Swedish EBM band, started in 1988 by Henrik Björkk and Leif Holm, who both hail from Karlskoga. Initially, the music of Pouppée Fabrikk (PF) borrowed heavily from minimalistic electronic acts such as Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Nitzer Ebb, but with the addition of Jouni Olilla and Jonas Aneheim on guitar PF moved towards a more Die Krupps-style electronic/metal mix. The "Your Pain - Our Gain" CD was meant to be released in 1996, but due to differences in opinion between the band and the record company (Energy Rekords) it was delayed until 1999. In 1996 the band decided to take a break and PF was put on hold and the band members worked on various solo projects. In 2000 the band re-united for a gig at the Tinitus Electronic Festival and announced that they were making a comeback and returning to their roots. They released a four track mini CD entitled "Elite Electronics". A year later though, both Jouni and Henrik left the band to concentrate on their respective solo careers. PF disbanded shortly afterwards. After seven years of absence from the scene the band reunits in 2009, Christian R filling the place of former member Jouni Ollila. In October 2010, they once again re-united for a gig; this time at Bodyfest on Fryshuset.)

DJ Hi-Tek keeps the beats nice and dirty. The majority of their debut album, $O$, was released for free on the Internet in 2009 - Ninja also handed out free albums with hand-drawn artwork at live shows called $O$: Burnt By the Master. As of Q4 2009, the band were 'officially' set to be working with Magnetron Music and were due to release a very special, limited-edition package for 2010 featuring the album, a DVD and a book. Die Antwoord's $O$ Album/DVD/Book package had a European release pending (featuring photography by Roger Ballen. But, it is impossible to buy their music anywhere, it seems…)

( ;D --> Chris Carter sure has turned his childhood hobby into a career. Born in Islington, London, England on January 28, 1953, Carter became enchanted with high-tech equipment early in his youth. When he was only a boy, Carter spent hours playing with a tape deck; his father would record family conversations and add sound effects to them, even changing speeds. At the age of 13, Carter fell in love with mixing electronic sounds. Carter joined a garage band called the Dragsters in 1967. A year later, Carter took drugs and saw Pink Floyd perform at a dive in North London. The group's visual presentation and acid-damaged pop left Carter spellbound. Inspired, Carter formed Orpheus Lites with his friend Chris Panayiotou, providing local acts with Pink Floyd-ish psychedelic light shows. Orpheus Lites eventually turned into an integral part of their biggest client, the outfit Willa. Carter joined Willa as a keyboardist, but he left in 1974. In 1975, Carter made his solo debut, performing at Thurrock Technical College in England as Waveforms, utilizing synthesizers and keyboards. He then met future bandmates Genesis P-Orridge (vocals) and Cosey Fanni Tutti (guitar), both of whom were in COUM Transmissions, a performance art ensemble that disgusted and disturbed English audiences by torturing their g*****ls and licking their vomit on-stage. With the addition of Carter, COUM Transmissions evolved into industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle. In 1980, Carter released his first album, The Space Between. Throbbing Gristle broke up a year later, and Carter started collaborating with Fanni Tutti as Chris & Cosey and Creative Technology Insitute, otherwise known as CTI. They also created their own record label, Conspiracy International. Carter entered the journalism field in the '90s, writing music reviews; he also designed album covers with Fanni Tutti and remixed two songs from Erasure.)
