Flavor of the Week #2

( ;D --> Patten’s music doesn’t benefit from prolonged exposure. Certainly, condensed into 23 minutes on the Eolian Instate EP, the producer’s signature style is far more palatable. The tracks on this, his debut release for Warp, are a touch more incisive, although in other respects it seems that little has changed for Patten in the past two years. The sound remains much the same—a pulverised form of electronica tempered with a subtle melodic glow—and passing comparisons can still be made to Actress’ heat-warped techno, or Flying Lotus at his most fervidly psychedelic.)

Future Islands

( ;D --> Future Islands are a synthpop band based in Baltimore, Maryland. The band is composed of Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, and Samuel T. Herring. Future Islands formed in January 2006 in Greenville, North Carolina. Aggressive DIY touring and a rapturous live set have helped this crew of Baltimore synth romantics develop an increasingly devout following along the Northeastern seaboard. This spring, they’ll unveil their first LP, an ambitiously swoony set of songs.)

Metronomy
www.metronomy.co.uk
( ;D --> Metronomy’s vision has been hard to pin down over their last three albums: They’ve tried their hand at bluntly trendy blog house, introverted electronica, and satin-lined pop-rock. On 2011's The English Riviera, the group came into their own, massaging out their quirks into a comfortable, glossy, Phoenix-laced swagger. And with "I’m Aquarius," the newest single from their forthcoming album, it feels like singer Joseph Mount has fully discovered where his croon will serve him best, cushioned by clean, finely tuned blips of bass and the coos of his backup singers.)

Joost Van Kerckhoven did the drums in 'Defy' who is now drummer in punkband 'Funerall Dress'.Dirk and Lesly Philippot were the other membres.)
