( ;D --> Patten’s music doesn’t benefit from prolonged exposure. Certainly, condensed into 23 minutes on the Eolian Instate EP, the producer’s signature style is far more palatable. The tracks on this, his debut release for Warp, are a touch more incisive, although in other respects it seems that little has changed for Patten in the past two years. The sound remains much the same—a pulverised form of electronica tempered with a subtle melodic glow—and passing comparisons can still be made to Actress’ heat-warped techno, or Flying Lotus at his most fervidly psychedelic.)

In a move away from the free-form experiments of their Black Dog output, Application seeks to apply the regimented leaning principles of Japanese Itamae to their work, where each new task is meticulously studied before being undertaken. Resultantly, System Fork is a highly intricate piece of experimental techno, ranging from the opening watery drones of ‘Ambient A’ to the hand-crafted, chiming dub groove of ‘Steve Reich’s Ice Cream Van’ and more mechanical, Stroboscopic Artefact-esque textures on ‘Siren’.)

GusGus' music is eclectic, and although primarily classified with techno, trip-hop and house music, they have experimented with numerous other styles. They have also remixed several famous artists, including Björk, Depeche Mode, Moloko, and Sigur Rós. Added to this they released the song "Desire" with Ian Brown in January 2004. A remix of the track "Purple" appeared in remixed form on Paul Oakenfold's successful trance compilation called Tranceport. ( ;D --> The concept for the musical project Blood Axis was initially created in the early 1990s by the musician, artist, and writer Michael Moynihan. He is joined in Blood Axis by ongoing artistic collaborators Robert Ferbrache a renowned musician and recording engineer, and Annabel Lee, an accomplished musician and artist. Other artists have also contributed to the project over the course of its existence.  The first Blood Axis album, The Gospel of Inhumanity (1996), was recorded by Moynihan and Ferbrache in 1995 and its somber, elegant tones and conceptual richness attracted considerable attention in underground art and music scenes in Europe and the United States. While this album continues to influence numerous bands who have imitated its sound and style, Blood Axis has long since evolved in new directions. Annabel Lee began working with the group in 1996. In 1997 Blood Axis performed at a prestigious event marking the 10th anniversary celebration of the Swedish industrial label Cold Meat Industry. The resulting recording became the basis for the 1998 album Blót: Sacrifice in Sweden, which at the time was the first release by a non-Scandinavian band on the CMI label. Blood Axis has given occasional live performances over the years. These have included sporadic events in the USA in 1992 and 1998, a European tour in 1998, special concerts in Portugal in 2001 and 2008, and a small tour of Germany and Italy in 2005.  In 2010 the second full-length Blood Axis studio recording, Born Again, was released to overall acclaim. ( ;D --> Florida/California-rooted experimental pop collective Hundred Waters introduced the world to their impressive pastiche of electronic and organic sounds with their self-titled 2012 debut. Wild samples, cold beats, and effervescent walls of vocals drew comparisons to everyone from Björk to Dirty Projectors, though no comparisons were bold enough to really pin down the band's frenetic sound. In the two years that followed, Hundred Waters found themselves performing live a great deal more than in their beginnings, and approached the writing/recording process for sophomore album The Moon Rang Like a Bell with live performance in mind, hoping to dutifully replicate the sounds of the album in a live setting. Rather than turning in a stripped-down skeleton of their previous sound, the album is brimming with sound, clearer and more direct rather than particularly more spare or even organized all that differently than before. Still crouching in a coy posture at the forefront of all the songs are frontwoman Nicole Miglis' vocals, contorting into different breathy forms depending on the song. For instance, the incredibly constructed "Out Alee" finds her vocals weaving between bubbly ethereal samples and rolling basslines, sounding either like a female James Blake or a distant cousin of Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan, depending on the movement.)

Ross grew up on a huge variety of music from traditional folk songs to reggae and hardcore, and was also influenced by punk and UK metal in the northern wilderness of England. Though an astrophysics graduate, he always wanted to concentrate on music, and the sonically striking 11 track LP follows a run of acclaimed releases put out since 2007 for the likes of Local Action, Ho Tep, Sneaker Social Club and his own Snowfall imprint, and a stint at the revered Red Bull Music Academy in New York last year. Live, Tones is also accomplished, having made numerous Boiler Room appearances and supported the likes of Bonobo, Atoms For Peace and Jon Hopkins.
