Flavor of the Week #30

( ;D --> ∆AIMON is a male/female duo working within the dark-electronic genre to produce atmospheric and unsettling compositions. Following the success of 'AMEN', their 2010 debut, FLATLINER builds upon their previous work by peeling back the frayed edges that flirt under overblown production in order to expose a clearly defined, beautiful intensity.
Wearing their influences on their sleeves, the slow, claustrophobic works fit well within the witch-house movement but will definitely appeal to any fans of cold, dark, and occult aesthetics. ∆AIMON's deliberate and methodical approach plays out like a surgical knife, cutting deep and equally precise with heavy beats and concrete synths. Released by the Bay Area label Tundra Dubs, these six new tracks continue to play with the push/pull structure found in ∆AIMON's earlier works but FLATLINER is set apart most obviously by its passionate delivery. Every vocal line and every explicit layer within the dense orchestrations seem built with a specific intent. Dense and weighed heavily by a bleak and oddly romantic sentiment.)

Little Red Lung
( ;D --> In 2007, Los Angeles' Little Red Lung was seeded as a dramatic, dynamic and genre-defying musical exhibition, performing in small avant-indie venues across the city of Los Angeles, as well as assembling an extended arsenal of recorded material. In 2009, the band began a two year transplant to the foothills of East Tennessee, stirring the production pot that would eventually emerge as their debut record. After an extensive Eastern US tour in the Fall of 2010, they permanently transplanted back to their home stomping ground to form a new lineup and to nose dive into the live music scene. Little Red Lung has recently graced the cover of Indie Music Reviewer Magazine, are featured as the highest rated new album in April's issue of Music Connection Magazine, have been nominated for LA Artist of the Month by The Deli Magazine, and are in regular play rotation at KCRW, Uprising Radio, KZME and Radio Phoenix.)

Die Antwoord
( ;D --> Formed in Cape Town, South Africa during Spring 2009, Die Antwoord is an afrikaans futuristic rap crew consisting of Ninja (Watkin Tudor "Waddy" Jones of MaxNormal.TV) and Yo-Landi Vi$$er. DJ Hi-Tek keeps the beats nice and dirty. The majority of their debut album, $O$, was released for free on the Internet in 2009 - Ninja also handed out free albums with hand-drawn artwork at live shows called $O$: Burnt By the Master. As of Q4 2009, the band were 'officially' set to be working with Magnetron Music and were due to release a very special, limited-edition package for 2010 featuring the album, a DVD and a book. Die Antwoord's $O$ Album/DVD/Book package had a European release pending (featuring photography by Roger Ballen. But, it is impossible to buy their music anywhere, it seems...)
