Flavor of the Week #29

Amirali
http://soundcloud.com/amiraliofficial/
( ;D --> Amirali’s journey has taken him from living in Iran to Toronto to London where he now resides, via an architecture degree. Growing up in the city of Tehran, and starting piano lessons from the age of 5, Amirali’s main musical influence was his father’s record collection, which opened his eyes to classical, jazz, blues and rock'n'roll. At the age of 16 Amirali’s family immigrated to Toronto in the hope of a better future. Amirali’s musical prowess wasn’t picked up on until he transferred his architecture university studies to London in 2010. He now confesses the move was driven more by musical aspirations rather than academic. This proved to be a very good decision indeed. His mysterious and haunting vocals and forward thinking musical style caught the attention of A&R extraordinaire and Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus. Damian promptly signed him for an artist album, and used his track ‘My Way’ to open his visionary compilation CD - Get Lost 4. This was quickly followed by the hit single release ‘Beautiful World’ which reared its head in January 2012 and gained huge acclaim from DJs and music aficionados alike. His sound is guaranteed to make your mouth water and your feet tap and his output is a brilliant mish mash of house, techno, funk, electronica, disco and everything in between. Think Depeche Mode jet propelled into the 22nd century whilst being chauffeured by Art Department & Underworld.)

( ;D --> Heimataerde is an art project, which since 2004 is driven beyond the established art forms and musical forms. Heimataerde builds up a dense tapestry of evocative music, visual arts, design and storytelling, inspired by the epic Templars and demon-red Middle Ages. With its sinister blend of massive electro and unusual instruments like bagpipes and cymbals, Heimataerde garnered attention from fans and reviewers alike. At a loss for a fitting description of Heimataerde s music, the press invented the term medieval-electro. Ashlar von Megalon is the narrator that leads us through this hellish scenario, having assigned himself the role of eternal wanderer on a quest for answers and a hidden truth. Heimataerde a paints a dark world of the forgotten avenger, following the trail of suppressed guilt and half-forgotten crimes rising to the surface with a vengeance, expanding the atmosphere of its self-created genre.)

( ;D --> Since 1997, James “darkfarmer” Taylor and David “brun” Brown have been plying their trade as the influential underground electronic act SWAYZAK. In that time they have released 5 studio albums and 2 dj compilations which have awoken the world of electronic music to their signature sound. Starting with the deep dubbed out classic “Snowboarding in Argentina” via the legendary “Fabric 11” cd to singles like “State of Grace”, “Make up your Mind” and “In the Car Crash” and the more experimental works of the “Clicks and Cuts”, not forgeting the acclaimed works on M_nus with Detroit’s Theorem and the all out electro pop assault of 2002's “Dirty Dancing”. Swayzak somehow still manage to be dark, twisted and unmistakable.)
