Flavor of the Week #29

.
Planet Mu (Mike & Rich)
planet.mu/
( ;D -->  Planet Mu is an English electronic music record label run by Mike Paradinas (also known as µ-Ziq).)
Aphex Twin

warp.net/records/aphex-Twin
( ;D --> Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known by his stage name Aphex Twin, is an England-based electronic musician and composer. He has been described by The Guardian as "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music", and is the co-founder of Rephlex Records with Grant Wilson-Claridge.[1] Aphex Twin's album Selected Ambient Works 85-92 was called the best album of the 1990s by FACT Magazine.)

( ;D -->  Mike Paradinas has become one of the very few artists working with electronics to produce a recognisable and personalised sound while at the same time mixing far-reaching experimentalism with accessibility through infectious melodies and rhythms. Achieving healthy record sales and staying true to the pioneering spirit of the underground is no mean feat.)
Mike & Rich  Expert Knob Twiddlers

planetmu.bleepstores.com/release/74321-mike-rich-expert-knob-twiddlers
( ;D --> Remastered and re-edited reissue of the collaboration album between Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin and Mike Paradinas aka µ–Ziq. Now includes bonus tracks and alternative versions Expert Knob Twiddlers’ was made back in 1994. Richard edited the tracks into shape later in 1996 with his new Apple Mac computer and it was released later that year on Rephlex, the label he co-owned and which released the first two albums by µ-Ziq. These are fun experiments in the spirit of lighthearted moog pop and ripe 70s British TV themes, standing out from the po-faced electronica of the time with a garish glee. The record was made on what is now seen as pretty primitive gear - an Atari, Roland MKS-80, Memorymoog, Roland R8 and a handful of samples on a Casio FZ-10M - but it’s to their credit that it resonates well with the hardware workouts coming out today.)

( ;D -->  While the drama continues and we keep fighting the demons of our daily struggle,.. a man from another place locked himself down in a black lodge, conceiving new material to share with the world. 214 isn't just a number, it's music from an extradimensional place, high up the North Bend mountains. Frequencies coming from a red room, filled with electronic circuitry parallel connected to our inner soul.)

Fujiya & Miyagi
www.fujiya-miyagi.co.uk/
( ;D --> They are self-described as being heavily influenced by Krautrock bands, Can and Neu! as well as the early 1990s electronic music artist, Aphex Twin. The origins of the band's name come from a character in the film, The Karate Kid as well as the brand of a record player. The lines "We're not a couple of shadowboxers/Oh/Oh/Just two Anglo-Saxons" from the 2008 track Butterfingers and "We were just pretending to be Japanese" from Photocopier may be comments on the band name and how it is perceived.)
