War On Error
R_amazon
( ;D --> German trio Rotersand has declared war on conformity and standardisation, the undermining of individualism and personality - the "error" in us. The new EP "War on Error" (out now) deals with these themes and offers a variety of tracks ranging from hard dancefloor fillers to a piano ballad. The CD is a digipak in 2 000 copies designed by Ingo Römling (In Strict Confidence, ASP, L'ame Immortelle). The new album "Random Is Resistance" will follow this fall.)

Knight is renowned for his pulverising fretwork in Shock Headed Peters, and his cavernous guitar treatments in Arkkon; Thrower’s reed playing provided a distinctive ‘free-melancholy’ in Coil and emerges as electro-acoustic texture in Cyclobe. To this duophonic arrangement, UnicaZürn add copious analogue synthesizer, mellotron and piano, with influences echoing back through Tangerine Dream’s early albums to the VCS3 days of Roxy Music. UnicaZürn offer a deeply immersive music which hovers at the brink of abstraction, seeking to conjure at that threshold fantastical coastlines and subterranean narratives in the mind’s eye.)

The first release “Kunst ist Krieg (=art is war)” and it’s club hit “BoomBoomBoom” instantly conquer the dancefloors and earn the band a slot on the soundtrack of the American block-buster movie SAW 4.)
Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit

( ;D --> ‘Alle Lust will Ewigkeit’ leaves the stongest blow for the very end. ‘Murderer’ mesmerises us with disturbing, yet fascinating, samples. Nevertheless, the track later on becomes truly devastating. Devastating enough to crush all and any resistance there might still be in us. This was to be expected, as the albums title (‘All joy wants eternity’) clearly brings to mind the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. And it finally becomes cleat – Nachtmahr is not an attempt to bring back some shattered memories. It’s a particular state of mind, a warrior’s spirit, a apotheosis of sin, lust and rumbling beats.)

Velvet Acid Chist
www.velvetacidchrist.com
www.myspace.com/velvetacidchrist
( ;D --> Velvet Acid Christ had their origins in an 80's high school electronics class, where Bryan and Chris would debate the merits of Amiga versus Atari. Bryan and Grigory Bilham (an early member of VAC) were at the time working in a punk/funk band, which, by 1990, was altered to the trio of Bryan, Chris, and Grig. The band's name was originally Cyberchrist, although this was changed within a few months to Velvet Acid Christ, named (so they say) in honor of a bad acid trip. Grig left the band in 1992, leaving the core of Bryan and Chris (although various other people have had revolving door membership in the band). Bryan and Chris cite a number of influences to their hard driving industrial sound, including Legendary Pink Dots, the Cure, Skinny Puppy, Orbital, and a surprising number of metal bands, including Napalm Death, Godflesh, and Metallica. They also expose a number of social issues, including animal rights and their concern regarding the basic survival of mankind against the onslaught of technology. VACs masterpiece and most recent full-length CD release Lust For Blood is possibly VACs most complete and diverse album in the past ten years. Lust For Blood is an aggressive return for one of electronic music’s most prolific artists. Angry and other times haunting vocals are forged to incessant beats, permeating melodies, and relentless bass lines. As an homage to early electronic music, guitars are once again introduced into the mix of patches, pads and circuits.)

They have collaborated with female singers Mara Carlyle, Nicolette and Björk. Although Plaid pre-existed the association, the duo's Ed Handley and Andy Turner spent most of their early recording years with Ken Downie as the dancefloor-confounding Black Dog Productions. Meshing well with Downie's vision of heavily hybridized post-techno and obscurantist thematics, the pair brought several nascent Plaid tracks to the Black Dog table on the group's debut, Bytes, a collection of tracks recorded by various iterations of the three members. The group recorded several albums and EPs throughout the early and mid-'90s, heley .
The pair split from Downie in 1995, and began rechanneling their efforts full-time with an EP on the neo-electro Clear label before signing to Warp. (The pair also recorded an album with European techno figure Mark Broom under the pseudonym Repeat. Both of Plaid's first two full-lengths, 1998's Not for Threes and the following year's Rest Proof Clockwork, were issued in the U.S. through Nothing. Once Warp set up a home on American shores, however, Plaid made the natural switch with the long-awaited collection Trainer, a retrospective including much of their early, pre-BDP work. The proper third album, Double Figure, followed in spring 2001, and the handy Plaid remix collection Parts in the Post was issued in 2003 by Peacefrog. The end of the year brought the duo's fourth proper LP, Spokes. Plaid was quiet on the recording front for several years, returning finally in mid-2006 with Greedy Baby, a mini-album that found the pair co-billed with visual artist Bob Jaroc.)

( ;D --> Sopor Aeternus (Latin: "Eternal Sleep") is a darkwave musical project (probably the deepest of dark bands) based in Frankfurt founded in 1989 by Anna-Varney Cantodea. Since the project's beginnings, Anna-Varney's music has gained notoriety for being extremely personalized, melancholic and pessimistic, drawing on a number of different musical and visual styles to be incorporated into her unique and unusual work. Despite years of media attention in Europe, not much is known about Cantodea and her personal life. All known information has been attained from interviews and publications in print. What is established is that Anna-Varney Cantodea is a pre-operative transwoman, and has decided to remain as such, citing "spiritual conflict" if gender reassignment surgery is performed. Sopor Aeternus also credits the Ensemble of Shadows for her inspirations. These are spirits, beings who she says she receives the musical compositions from. She also works through depression with the aid of her music, as can be heard on the demos, produced at a time when she was gravely ill and at risk of losing her eyesight. She describes her subsequent works as "introverted exhibitionism." They are also expressions of extreme, intense pain.

The album was met with much acclaim from critics, dancefloors, and DJs alike and resulted in a series of DJ-friendly remixes in 2005. ( ;D --> My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult specialized in mixing tales of sex, Satan, and gore with a rock/dance beat. Originally formed in 1987 by Buzz McCoy and Groovie Mann, the duo sought to create a worthy musical accompaniment that could be used as a soundtrack to trashy B-movies. The duo's initial project was to make a movie (in the style of Russ Meyer and John Waters) to be named "My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult." The movie never got off the ground, but McCoy and Mann used the aborted movie's title for the name of their just-formed group, as their over-the-top stage show was best described as "sensory overload" (featuring a revolving door of weird characters, props, and intense visuals.
In addition to their own releases, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult has contributed tracks to several movie soundtracks, including Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls, Greg Araki's Nowhere, and the hit flick The Crow (in the latter of which the group made a cameo appearance); and over the years, has toured with such renowned (and similarly styled) bands as Siouxie and the Banshees, Lords of Acid, EMF, and Marilyn Manson.)
