Whilst working towards his PhD in Political Science he also composes music that taps into melancholic fantasy and affirms that we are all truly alive. Questing synthesisers, tensely strung bass lines and chasing drum machines provide the perfect backdrop for John's deeply resonant reverb-drenched vocal. Born in the decade of synth pop and sharing his birthday with George Frideric Handel, John started making music when Nirvana posters went up on every teenager's wall. It's this curious conflux of influences that partially helps to describe John's music. It's a world where the Germs jam with Jerry Goldsmith, Cabaret Voltaire relocate to Eternia and Josquin des Prez writes a new score for RoboCop. The confrontation of punk, the fleeting poignancy of 80s movie soundtracks, the insistent pulse of Moroder and the spirituality of Medieval and Baroque music all find salvation in John Maus. After a spell working alongside Ariel Pink and Gary War in Haunted Graffiti, 2006 saw the release of John's debut album proper through Upset The Rhythm.)

As a musician Eigner has contributed to hundreds of albums for various artists. Bamonte began working for Depeche Mode from the start of their career in 1980, taking on a varierty of roles before moving on in 1995 to work for The Cure for several years. The trio is completed by singer Florian Kraemmer. Kraemmer, like Eigner a native of Vienna, is the son of an actress and an opera singer, and took classical piano training from the age of eight. To date, he has worked mainly as a TV composer and has preserved his passion for classical music. The trio shares creative equality when they work on their songs. Daryl writes the lyrics, Florian develops the melodies and Christian puts together the powerful music that marks Compact Space with their own unmistakable style as soon as you listen to them. Compact Space has recently signed a worldwide licensing deal with Ferryhouse Productions in Hamburg. The first album "Nameless" and "Push Push" EP will be released simultaneously on 24th June 2011. And One
www.andone.de
www.myspace.com/andoneofficial
( ;D --> Formed in 1989 by german teenage clubbers Steve Naghavi & Chris Ruiz, And One went on to become one of the most proficient and popular modern synth-pop/EBM bands in the world. Eight studio albums and multiple world tours later And One are still going strong throughout diversity, criticism, lineup changes, and controversy.)

( ;D --> Tycho is the music project of San Francisco artist and producer Scott Hansen. As Tycho, Hansen blends swirling melodies into vaguely triumphant arcs that crisscross between stuttering beats and vocal samples, creating rolling sonic landscapes that extend into the horizon. Known in the design world as ISO50, Hansen is famed for his bucolic, sun-drenched design style, which serves as a backdrop and mirror for his musical output.)

Ben Benjamin

( ;D --> Ben Benjamin is the solo work of Ben Mullins, or the man behind the influential Midwest Product trio and the elegant PostPrior project. With Ben Benjamin, Mullins captures the varied emotions and textures that have been the signature of his work but it becomes more personal. Releasing songs as a body of “moods” allows Mullins to create a narrative with the listener that extends beyond the songs themselves, they are like notebooks capturing a moment in time.)

( ;D --> In the late 90s Atari Teenage Riot (ATR) emerged out of the electronica genre, to subvert all rules of rock and techno music. The original conception was Alec Empire's and when joined by Hanin Elias, Nic Endo and Carl Crack on stage, the mixed race, mixed sex image of the band provoked people before they even heard the music.)

Flavor of the week #12

Ghost & Writer
www.myspace.com/ghostandwriter
( ;D --> Ghost & Writer is a project group devised by JimmyJoe SNARK III, a man of multiple talents, and SEABOUND’s Frank Spinath – a killer combination that comes with a great concept album and good vibes. Prior to the album’s release, JIMMYJOE SNARK III confessed to VIVA MUSIC that “Shipwrecks” comes as a mirrored structure of 8 tracks and their remixes, with a Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde quality to it: “both Frank and I are involved in different bands and projects, so there are some elements we put in here and not there, maybe because that is not the right project for it, and in that sense, there is a Dr. Jeckyll aspect to how we behave”’. The album, to be released on January-28 by DEPENDENT RECORDS, benefits from the creative input of FRONT 242’s Daniel B.’s remastering, and is an enthusing listen, of great picturesque content and compels to multiple auditions.)

Necro Facility
www.myspace.com/necrofacility
http://necro.e-prom.se/
( ;D --> Necro Facility is a Swedish electronic body music (EBM) band that has embraced the older sound associated with Pacific Northwest acts like Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly. While you will find many reviews comparing anything industrial to these two bands, rarely are these comparisons fair. However, Henrik Backstrom and Oscar Holter not only were clearly influenced by the darker early EBM sounds of these bands, but I'd argue that they've really kept the tradition alive while Skinny Puppy and FLA have moved in different directions.)

Her electronica-based approach with neo-classical music. industrial, otherworldly environment. With droning, machine-like synths and icy vocals, building a claustrophobic but fascinating atmosphere.)

There is a deceptive simplicity to iammynewt's approach; stark, visceral, and rich in creativity. One is never overwhelmed, and yet one can get lost in the sonic maze)
