( ;D --> Kangding Ray is David Letellier Born 1978 in France, lives and works in Berlin.Studied and graduated in architecture in Rennes and Berlin, works in different fields: music, architecture, performances, installations. Evolved as a guitarist and drummer in bands whose influences ranged from noise-rock, to jazz, before buying an akai sampler and moving on to electronic music. Kangding ray's music reflects his wide musical background, and a particular way of merging beats and textured soundscapes into slowly evolving compositions. KR combines machines with « real instruments » in a subtle and rythmic suite, integrating noises, walls of distortion, massive bass lines, voices and field recordings. The result is a blend of deep advanced grooves and dark atmospheres, that one could describe as « abstract bass music »)

Obviously in between (or even during) the recordings there was some examination of bottles and the liquor they contained going on, the object for the album is the impact alcohol might have on people when consumed.
Alcohology mainly contain slow pounding industrial music in the vein that are familiar to all Deutsch Nepal fanatics in the same way as the previous album Amygdala. Swirling mirrors of looped sounds loosely glued together with pounding or haunting beats followed with simple melodic input. The dystopian vocals present a surrealistic scenario built up inside your head while listening.)

The first result was a cover of David Bowie´s "Heroes", and the band also did a low-fi video for the song. The feedback was awesome from start and the band decided to move along with own written songs. The song "Molecules and carbon" followed the same procedure with a low-fi video and also a soundcloud account to let more people access to the music. Once again the feedback was really good and the band started to have followers on facebook/Soundcloud etc. Also magazines like Sideline, Peek-a-Boo, Elektroskull etc. started to encourage the band.)

The Operating Tracks is an attempt to put sound to mental images representing devoid and severe environments for humanity. It can be a city, where war has passed through. It can be an institution from the 1950s where screams push through a desolate corridor and through closed doors. Intersecting these images through hardware synthesizers, music originated. Where minimalistic texts, monotonous music and unpredictable machines meet, a feeling grows that is hard to shake off.)

To start the band up, he simply needed to integrate a singer, expert for both clean and harsh vocals, and able to manage lyrics, vocal lines and rhythmics: the choice falls on Marco “Katatronik” Mantovani, performer with a 10-years experience as singer, both melodic in an italian rock band (Zona Traffico Libero) and screaming-growling in a melodic death metal band (Ultima Necat).)

His classic double live album entitled "The Spirals of Time", released in 1997 on Amplexus, has been voted as one of the best ambient albums of all time. Oöphoi used mainly synths and sampling machines, singing bowls, flutes, Theremin, waterphone, processed voices and unusual percussion (woodchimes, stones, shells, crystal chimes); all his music was recorded using analog-only devices in The Kiva, his studio, which used to be a stable in a XV Century stone country house in the hills of central Italy. In 2002 he founded the experimental ambient group Nebula, along with Klaus Wiese, Mauro Malgrande, Lorenzo Pierobon and Tau Ceti. Having began playing guitar and piano at the age of ten, by 16 he was producing music and performing in bands, everything from punk rock to electronica. At age 22 he was traveling throughout Ontario, Canada and the north eastern United States with a pop-punk indie outfit. It wasn't until influences like John Acquaviva, Richie Hawtin, Sasha and John Digweed led Dustin to fall head over heels for dance music in 2004. It wasn't long before Dustin was performing as a DJ in some of Toronto's hottest clubs, including Beba, Hotel, Comfort Zone and Limelight.)

( ;D --> Now though a whole dedicated EP of fresh material from Der Zyklus has been forged for Zone Records, the Paris label overseen by Michel ‘The Hacker’ Amato and Alexandre Reynaud. As Resident Advisor reports, Axonometric comes accompanied by a typically abstract explanation from Donald himself, stating that, “electronic music is based on science and the scientific method is utilized in its creation. Theories and hypotheses are put forth and if they are practical and plausible they will be tested to verify them. Some theories work and some don’t, but no theory is considered too abstract.” Comprised of four tracks, Axonometric is slated for a September release, although we’re yet to ascertain on what formats the music will be available.)
