( ;D --> The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) are an Anglo-Dutch experimental rock band formed in London in August 1980. Although far outside the mainstream (in terms of their music and career path), LPD have released more than 40 albums, have a devoted worldwide following, and tour frequently. The story behind the band's name is a source of speculation because Edward has given multiple explanations behind its origins. The most plausible and common explanation traces back to the mysterious pink dots on certain keys of the band's main recording studio piano named "Osbert"; the dots that can be found at either end of the keys do not make any particular chord or scale pattern and the reason for them remains unknown to this day. The piano itself is still owned by one of the founding band members, April White, and can be found at her home recording studio in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. Their music touches on elements of neo-psychedelia, ambient music, electronic music, tape music, industrial, psych folk, synth-pop, post-punk, progressive, jazz, noise, pop, and goth rock, with a distinctly experimental/avant-garde bent; their sound has evolved over time and remains distinctive, making it difficult to place the group into a concise style or genre. The group's overall sound combined with Ka-Spel's distinct lyrics and singing have earned comparisons to Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett;[1] the group also has links to the sounds of krautrock bands such as Can,[2] Faust, Brainticket, Magma or Neu! Growing up in the city of Tehran, and starting piano lessons from the age of 5, Amirali’s main musical influence was his father’s record collection, which opened his eyes to classical, jazz, blues and rock'n'roll. At the age of 16 Amirali’s family immigrated to Toronto in the hope of a better future. Amirali’s musical prowess wasn’t picked up on until he transferred his architecture university studies to London in 2010. He now confesses the move was driven more by musical aspirations rather than academic. This proved to be a very good decision indeed. His mysterious and haunting vocals and forward thinking musical style caught the attention of A&R extraordinaire and Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus. Damian promptly signed him for an artist album, and used his track ‘My Way’ to open his visionary compilation CD - Get Lost 4. This was quickly followed by the hit single release ‘Beautiful World’ which reared its head in January 2012 and gained huge acclaim from DJs and music aficionados alike. His sound is guaranteed to make your mouth water and your feet tap and his output is a brilliant mish mash of house, techno, funk, electronica, disco and everything in between. It’s either the album they always wanted to make, or the album they almost didn’t make, depending on how you look at it. In 2011, the band started the painstaking forensic task of piecing together a cohesive and magical work from disparate constituent parts. If this sounds unromantic, the results are anything but. Something alchemical occurs when the four members of Sigur Ro´s are in the room together, and even if Valtari is more a “studio based” album than any of its predecessors (which usually start life as rehearsal room jams), the long hours of experimentation and unsentimental editing have yielded incredibly persuasive results.)
