( ;D --> Clock DVA are an industrial music, post-punk and EBM group from Sheffield, England. The group was formed in 1978 by Adolphus "Adi" Newton and Steven "Judd" Turner. Along with contemporaries Heaven 17, Clock DVA's name was inspired by the Russian-influenced Nadsat of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange. Dva is the Russian word for "two". Newton had previously worked with members of Cabaret Voltaire in a collective called The Studs and with Ian Craig Marsh and Martyn Ware in a band called The Future.)

( ;D --> Out on June 14th via Anterior is the brand new Clock DVA album "Post-Sign". "Post-Sign" is marks the first CD release by the band since their latest single "Eternity" (Contempo Records, 1993). The CD also includes links to download the videos for "Phase IV", "Sigma 7" and "Project Paperclip". All Anterior editions are in DVD digipak format with embossed Anterior detail and follow a corporative design that will build throughout each Anterior release. The DVD-sized digipak comes with a 28 pages full colour Booklet. This album is a collection of material recorded after the release of the album "Sign" on the Italian Label Contempo. Produced and composed by Adi Newton throughout 1994/5 in Florence and Milan during a transitional period in the chronology of DVA. Due to circumstantial events these recordings remained as primary bases for later development, intended as an instrumental companion album to "Sign", similar in concept to the instrumental album "Digital Soundtracks".)

The music and lyrical world of ROME is genuinely unique and constantly brilliant. Blending excellent songwriting craftsmanship, unusual arrangements and fine poetry into one monstruous and intimate musical output that combines chanson, dark ambient, apocalyptic folk, pop, acoustic rock, martial industrial, cold wave – all rolled into one impressive avantgarde package.)

( ;D --> Jerome Reuter certainly does not give a toss about anyone's expectations. While some are still trying to get a handle on last year's soul-baring ‘Hell Money’ and its stylistic twist, Reuter now releases a monumental industrial/folk EP, on which the old industrial influences are not only reincorporated into ROME's musical landscape, but are taken quite a step further. ’The Colony’, an almost 40-minute-long industrial tour-de-force divided into two separate tracks, is the main course here: a barrage of textures, bleak industrial loops, straight-forward noise and eerie dark ambient soundscapes with a distinctive ROMEan feel are mixed into one soothing cocktail.)

( ;D --> Soft Metals is a multi-disciplinary electronic duo from Portland, Oregon now residing in Los Angeles, California. Its members Ian Hicks and Patricia Hall were brought together through a common love of 1970s and 80s synthesizer music and began writing and recording songs together in the spring of 2009. Inspiration came to them by way of experimental electronic sounds, film soundtracks, early industrial music, minimal synth, house, techno, synth pop, krautrock, psychedelic rock, and shoegaze. Ian and Patricia share songwriting duties and compose the music together before writing lyrics and adding vocals. Their songs are built from moody, improvised sessions together using exclusively electronic instruments. The meaning of the raw music they make is explored and interpreted afterwards with lyrical themes ranging from life experience, films, literature, history, science, love, conflict, and death. Soft Metals prefer to express themselves freely rather than adhere to a particular genre. This freedom gives them a diverse sound somewhere between dance music, austere synthetic pop, and experimental electronic composition.)

( ;D --> During the recording of I DIE, Sins was inspired by death, specifically by his own death. The Japanese have a word “Aware” pronounced (Ah-Wa-Re), which translates roughly to “a gentle sadness towards the impermanence of things”. It's the concept that life and death are but two sides of the same coin. Sins is at one with death, embracing it with one hand while gripping life and living it to its fullest in the other. Aleister Crowley's Sabbath of the Goat sums up this concept nicely.)

The Legendary Pink Dots
www.myspace.com/thelegendarypinkdots
legendarypinkdots.org
( ;D --> The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) are an Anglo-Dutch experimental rock band formed in London in August 1980. Although far outside the mainstream (in terms of their music and career path), LPD have released more than 40 albums, have a devoted worldwide following, and tour frequently. The story behind the band's name is a source of speculation because Edward has given multiple explanations behind its origins. The most plausible and common explanation traces back to the mysterious pink dots on certain keys of the band's main recording studio piano named "Osbert"; the dots that can be found at either end of the keys do not make any particular chord or scale pattern and the reason for them remains unknown to this day. The piano itself is still owned by one of the founding band members, April White, and can be found at her home recording studio in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. Their music touches on elements of neo-psychedelia, ambient music, electronic music, tape music, industrial, psych folk, synth-pop, post-punk, progressive, jazz, noise, pop, and goth rock, with a distinctly experimental/avant-garde bent; their sound has evolved over time and remains distinctive, making it difficult to place the group into a concise style or genre. The group's overall sound combined with Ka-Spel's distinct lyrics and singing have earned comparisons to Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett;[1] the group also has links to the sounds of krautrock bands such as Can,[2] Faust, Brainticket, Magma or Neu! (whose "Super" they covered on the 1999 tribute album "A Homage to NEU!"), as well, to some post-industrial`pioneers as Nurse With Wound and the neo-folk of Current 93. Tuxedomoon
tuxedomoon.co
( ;D --> Tuxedomoon is an experimental avant-garde post-punk New Wave group formed in San Francisco, California consisting of core members Blaine L. Reininger, Steven Brown and Peter Principle, Luc van Lieshout and video artist Bruce Geduldig. Formed in 1977 by multi-instrumentalists Blaine L. Reininger and Steven Brown, then two students of electronic music at San Francisco City College, with technical assistance from video artist Tommy Tadlock, Tuxedomoon started playing salons and accompanying performances by The Angels of Light. Brown's connections to local theatre gave the band access to vocalists Gregory Cruikshank, Victoria Lowe, and, most frequently, Winston Tong. The band gained some level of recognition in 1978 when they opened for Devo. Michael Belfer, (guitarist), and Paul Zahl, (drummer) joined the band in time to help with the group's first EP, No Tears. Lowe left prior to the album's release in 1978. Soon afterward, Tong and Belfer left the group temporarily, and bassist Peter Principle joined the lineup. In 1979, the group signed to The Residents' Ralph Records, with whom they recorded their next two albums, Half Mute in 1980 and Desire in 1981, after which the band relocated to Rotterdam for a short time and moved on to Brussels, believing their sound better fit the electronic scene in Europe. In Brussels, the band soon created the score for a ballet by Maurice Bejart, released in 1982 as "Divine". In 1983 Reininger left the group in order to pursue a solo career, and trumpeter Luc Van Lieshout joined. In 1985 Tuxedomoon had its largest success commercially with the international release of Holy Wars. Tong left the group again soon after its release. Multi-instrumentalist Ivan Georgiev was brought in to perform on the group's next two albums, 1986's Ship of Fools and 1987's You. The band remained inactive through most of the 1990s, although never technically broke up. On July 20, 2004 a reborn Tuxedomoon, consisting of Steven Brown, Blaine Reininger, Peter Principle, and Luc Van Lieshout released a new studio album, Cabin in the Sky. They continue to work and tour together and have since released Bardo Hotel Soundtrack in 2006, with upcoming projects coinciding with the group's 30th year anniversary, the Vapour Trails album and the boxed set 7707.)

Edward Ka-Spel has said their musical influences range from the likes of Abba to Iannis Xenakis. The Pink Dots also collaborated with Skinny Puppy's cEvin Key, forming a side project named The Tear Garden. Key also appears on the 1994 LPD album 9 Lives to Wonder. ( ;D --> Few people bring a truly original sound to house music. At a relatively young age, Hamburg’s Martin Stimming did just that, demonstrating a sophisticated yet accessible sound that’s beyond his years.
Two years after hooking up with Solomun’s Diynamic Music, his 2008 breakthrough hit Una Pena made the electronic world sit up and take notice, and before long acclaimed labels like Freerange, liebe*detail, Buzzin’ Fly, Green and Poker Flat were snapping up his work. 2009 saw him release his immaculate debut album Reflections to great acclaim, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting new producers of his generation. His second album, Liquorice, eschews the normal kick-clap/snare template by and large to explore more interesting and progressive territories, but always with that trademark magpie-like sense of texture, emotion and discovery. His productions are filled with a multitude of his own unique, charismatic field recordings, and he never uses the same sample more than once.)

( ;D --> The best music is music that can make you think as well as feel, sounds that are as visceral as they are cerebral. And the best love songs are those that acknowledge that the power of human sexuality can be just as terrifying as it is thrilling, that the passion that leads us to love can also lead us into dark, dark places. Welcome to the world of Brooklyn duo Beacon, who explore the dark side of the sweet melody with a sound that’s as seductive as it is subtly discomfiting. The duo – Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett – met at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute, where they were studying sculpture and painting respectively. As with many other great musical partnerships, this one involves two disparate sets of influences coming together to form a sound that’s both fresh and exciting. They fuse the deceptively sweet melodies of R&B with an intoxicating undercurrent of darkness, drawing on influence as disparate as Warp’s back catalogue and Underworld. The fusion of these two sounds – R&B’s melody and sexuality, electronic music’s complexity and, especially, the bass - heavy sound design of Mullarney’s influences (“Bass is key to our music,” he enthuses, “big, thunderous rap bass”) – would provide a blueprint for Beacon’s own sound: there’s a duality at play here, an idea of something dark lurking beneath a sleek veneer, a sense of latent conflict and uncertain resolution.)

( ;D --> Guy Gerber has always been comfortable as an outlier. From being the rock kid at the rave, to the Israeli DJ on the European club circuit, to the electronic producer with a fetish for live instruments, he tends to skirt the edge of whatever scene he's in. It's a position that suits him well––so far it's led to dozens of lush, melodic records, an ever-evolving live act and his own label, Supplement Facts. This nonconformist attitude, combined with the emotional content of his art (so rare in today's electronic music), explains how Gerber keeps his audience locked in, be it on record or on stage.)

Nine Inch Nails' music straddles a wide range of genres. After recording a new album, Reznor usually assembles a live band to perform with him. The touring band features a revolving lineup that often rearranges songs to fit a live setting. On stage, Nine Inch Nails often employs visual elements to accompany performances, which frequently include light shows.)

( :D --> With the scope of modern composition, the ferocity of metal, and the starkness of electronic music at its bleakest, Paul Jebanasam's debut full-length on his own Subtext imprint is a savage and intimidating creature. This awe-inspiring presence is only superseded by the deft, mult-dimensional compositions that make up "Rites." Though rooted in the language of electronic music, the difference between this album and those usually tagged with that genre is a vast chasm in both vision and execution as "Rites" is more akin to Ben Frost's "Theory of Machines" or Deaf Center's "Owl Splinters." The highpoints are many - from the string-imbued "Rites III" to the static-drenched epic "Rites IV" - but Jebanasam's best moment is the album's second track. "Rites II" is a menacing thriller of a song that roils to a blistering peak of distortion blasts and throbbing sub-bass and leaves the listener battered and wanting more. As a debut, "Rites" is beyond impressive. - Ryan Potts, Experimedia.)
